MONDAY: MIND, BODY, SPIRIT
6:30 P.M. AT ST. JOHN
Mind Body Spirit is an opportunity to spend some time taking care of your mind, body, and spirit, so we are best able to do the work God has planned for us. In this 60-minute practice, you will be guided through gentle movements appropriate for all ages and experience. In fact, no experience is necessary at all! Just a desire to practice self-care and spend some time in reflection.
CLASS SCHEDULE: 1st and 3rd Mondays each month | 6:30-7:30 p.m. in Favret Hall at St. John. Please bring a mat and water bottle. We ask that you arrive 5-10 minutes early, so practice can begin on time.
STAY IN TOUCH: There is a Facebook group called "Mind Body Spirit" where updates and reminders are posted. It is a closed group - just request to join! If Facebook is not an option, please contact Michelle Deutsch to be put on an email list for reminders.
GRATITUDE DONATIONS: This class is 100% free! If anyone cares to make a gratitude donation, all monies go to Reach Out Lakota. We have donated over $1,000 to date! A donation box is available in class.
MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR: Michelle Deutsch has been practicing yoga for most of her adult life. "When I became an instructor a few years ago I immediately started seeing all of the parallels between my faith practice and my yoga practice. Both are journeys, neither require experience - just a willingness to be present. Both give opportunities for self-reflection and development. Neither are a competition or a race. In both a faith practice and a yoga practice, we all start from somewhere, and sometimes we need to start over and go back to the basics. Both can be extremely fulfilling and the benefits carry over to all areas of life."
TUESDAY: HEALING TOUCH
7 P.M. AT ST. JOHN
Healing Touch is a compassionate energy therapy in which practitioners use their hands in a heart-centered and intentional way to support or facilitate your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health and self-healing. Healing touch uses gentle, light or near-body touch to clear, balance, energize and support the human energy system in an effort to promote healing for the whole person: body, mind and spirit. Healing Touch is a complementary, integrative therapy that can be used in conjunction with traditional therapies.
The goal of Healing Touch is to restore balance and harmony in the human energy system by creating an optimal environment for the body’s innate tendency for healing to occur.
Healing Touch Spiritual Ministry practitioners believe that all healing comes from God. We pray that we are instruments of God’s healing for the person’s highest good. There are many ways we use our hands to be a healing presence for another. We ask in prayer for God to do the work through us.
Research suggests that Healing Touch greatly benefits those by reducing pain, reducing anxiety, relieving stress and depression, providing support through chemotherapy, reducing the effects of trauma and chronic pain, enhances the recovery from surgery, supports the dying process, and strengthens the immune system.
Healing Touch is used at Hospice of Cincinnati and in most of the hospitals in Cincinnati as well as some area churches.
At St. John, we are offering Healing Touch Ministry on the second Tuesday of each month in Favret Hall from 7-9pm. Please contact Pat Springer to schedule a time at (513) 492-8649.
